Welcome to "Schluckspecht"

New built "Schluckspecht City" on the road!
The Team Schluckspecht from the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg built an urban concept car which is ready to drive on public roads.
This years Shell Eco Marathon was the first time, the new designed car drove under its own power. After winning the first price in the hydrogen fuel cell category in 2008 the team decided to participate in the urban concept category at the 2009 Shell Eco Marathon at the Eurospeedway Lausitz in Germany.
The team of 20 students designed and built the car in just 5 month. This leads to the situation that the final assembly was finished on the day the first competitive run took place.
Due to technical problems the team was not able to participate in the first run. But the second run seamed to be successfull. After a good start and 6 completed laps on the speedway, the car broke down. So the team failed to reach a official result, but the inofficial hydrogen consumption during the 6 laps lets us hope for a successfull Shell Eco Marathon in 2010.
