The Exhibition in Hamburg was realy exciting, alot of people took a clother look on the car that achieved nearly 3200km with one liter gazoline.
Saturday, 11. October 2008: Top - Teams invited by Shell to the EuroSpeedway Lausitz
6 Top – Teams out of Europe were invited to visit the Lausitzring. As a representative for all participating teams we were invited to explore and to test the EuroSpeedway.
Shell will share videos and photos of this event in the next few weeks.
In fact, the EuroSpeedway is really impressive. The paddock area is much bigger then the one in Nogaro. The prototype class has to use the outer circle, the urban concepts use the inner track. In 2009, during test-drive both categories will use the track at the same time. The camping site is very close to the track.

From 22 - 23 october we will present our car on the H2 - Expo in Hamburg, Germany. As a special hightlight, our car will turn a few round in the exhibition hall

Friday, 23.05.2008: NEWS direct from Nogaro: Schluckspecht on Place 1 of the fuel cell category
With 3198 km Schluckspecht sets a new record. That's 482 km more than the best last year result of the Schluckspecht. It puts the Schluckspecht on Place 1 of the fuel cells and place 2 overall.

Saturday, 29.03.2008. First Roll - Out 2008!
After many small improvements on the car the first test drive took place on last saturday. There occured no problems during the whole test drive and the interaction between all components was to our full satisfaction. Our new data logging system is giving us the opportunity to analyze the whole race. This includes the recording of the communication between all 6 microcontrollers in the car.
Our new driver Sabine was given the chance to feel the dynamics of Germany´s most economic vehicle.

Sunday, 05/13/2007 2nd raceday, Nogaro
Schluckspecht achieved a 3rd place overall!
The German Team from "Offenburg" achieved 2716 km per liter of fuel and a great 3rd place overall and the 2nd place at the fuel cell class.
The team presens the world's first Direct-Ethanol-Fuel-Cell (DEFC) on the race track.

Wednesday, 05/02/2007 One week to go... the countdown is on!
The team is continously stepping forward. The new electronics for the hydrogen fuel cell is finished and our computer scientists are working out the software. A stunning design of the new aluminium front rims after they have passed the milling process impressed us a lot. The guys who are developing the Direct-Ethanol-Fuel-Cell (read below) made a fantastic job managing to get the milling for all 60 bipolare plates done.
Wednesday, 04/18/2007 Schluckspecht Team is going to present the World's First Direct-Ethanol-Fuel-Cell (DEFC) Vehicle in Nogaro!
After months of research and successful testings in our laboratories we want to present our vehicle powered by our DEFC for demonstration purpose in Nogaro. On Sunday the 13th of May our Schluckspecht shall be fitted with the DEFC and will go for a testing lap on Nogaro Circuit.
At the moment our team is working under high pressure manufacturing the stack for this event.
Saturday, 04/14/2007 First Roll Out of Schluckspecht 2007
This Saturday our first test drive for 2007's Eco-marathon was happening on the Airfield of Offenburg. We did test new safety equipment as well as the new cockpit canopy. On this sunny day our new driver Sigrid Herb and our established driver Daniela Morgenstern could get a feeling for the vehicle. Special thanks to Mister Kälble from the Aero-Club for giving us the opportunity for these tests.

The Deutsche Shell Holding GmbH invited guests to Shell Energie-Dialog to Wiesbaden. Prof. Dr. Hochberg and Boris Kubrak represented the Schluckspecht Team. Speakers were Prof. Dr. Anders Levermann from IPCC as well as Kurt Döhmel, Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Shell Holding GmbH and Dr. Wolfgang Lueke, Research Coordinator Gas-To-Liquids, Shell Global Solutions. Monday, 02/05/2007 lively interested visitors at I+E 2007 in Freiburg
From 25.-27. January the Schluckspecht Team displayed their price winning hub motor at the trade fair for electronics in Freiburg. A lot of representatives of industry and private visitors were especially interested in the motor design and its control. Many thanks to the Institute for Applied Research (IAF) of our University giving us the oppotunity to join the the event.

Tuesday, 01/16/2007 Schluckspecht-Team welcome to Offenburg's New Year's Reception
On Sunday the 14.01.2007 Offenburg's major Miss Edith Schreiner did welcome the Schluckspecht-Team at the City-Council's New Year's Reception at the brand new baden-arena in Offenburg. Miss Schreiner and Prof. Dr. Winfried Lieber, headmaster of the University Offenburg, appreciated the team's enourmous success of the last few years in their speeches facing a big audience of representives of policy and economy.

Now there are three Flyers available. One Flyer is dedicated to the aerodynamics of our car, the other one shows our innovative hub - motor. In the last Flyer you can see a abstract of the Team History since 1998. This Flyer is currently only available in german.
Thursday, 12/14/2006 New Cockpit Canopy in Production
Getting more space inside the cockpit and better aerodynamics was the intention to design a new canopy for our vehicle. Therefore we did build an original mould made of fibre glass. The design of the new canopy was built up within the cockpit and the negative mould was casted from it. Than the actual glass fibre mould was laminated into the negative mould (see pictures).
The negative mould is at the moment at our sponsor mecaplex AG (Switzerland) for the production of the new canopy.

The Schluckspecht III of the Hochschule Offenburg presents itself to the "Internationalen Konferenz und Fachmesse für Wasserstoff- und Brennstoffzellen Technologien" (international conference and trade fair for hydrogen and gas cells technologies) from 10/25 to 10/26/2006 in the CCH, (Hamburg Congress Centrum).
In the context of the Science@2Expo we present our vehicle. Also we will demonstrate our vehicle on a small Parcours.

Saturday, 09/09/2006 Schluckspecht III presents itself at VHS Tuttlingen
The Schluckspecht III of the Hochschule Offenburg presents itself to 10/19/2006 starting from 7 o'clock pm in the context of a lecture in the aula of the Immanuel Kant Gymnasium in Tuttlingen.
In the context of several lectures the e.g. following topics are taken up
- the Shell Eco Marathon and the history of the Schluckspecht team
- the Schluckspecht and its technical interior life
- the self-development: "wheel hub engine"
- chances for the development of the gas cell technology in the future

Saturday, 08/19/2006 New Internet website of Schluckspecht-Team is published
Starting from today this Internet site will be our new home. Thus the readers are kept more current up to date, than so far, since now several persons will maintain the site. Because of the reason this site is build up from zero, at first many parts of the old side are missing. These are supplied later with the time. The English translation remains "asynchronous" for a while.
In this course also our main address changes too http://www.schluckspecht.net. The past address http://www.eco marathon.de was put to the German Eco-Marathon Teams and their new Internet site.
We hope you are up to date again and visit ourselves further regularly. About suggestions and criticism we would be pleased much.
